Photographing Holiday Decorations

I'm currently existing at the edge of an Atmospheric River. Which sounds like it is something other than the weather. An Energetic Atmospheric River. That is definitely a thing.

What is a landscape photographer to do when they can't get outside to photograph things?

I'm not sure I can totally call myself a Landscape Photographer. The biggest reason I'm not going outside is that I just don't own the correct clothes for the weather. It's an issue that I need to correct. It is hurtful spending the wet/cold months of the year not photographing things simple because I can't dress properly.

I'm totally taking advantage of the holiday decorations to practice macro/close up photography.

This time I used a vintage Helios lens. This lens is amazing for bokeh. I didn't nail focus because I was having a hard time holding myself still. As I go through my photographic journey, I'm realizing the perfectly sharp images aren't always what I end up loving the best.

Out of this batch of images, I like the snowman fairy the best. I think I could do better with the carousel horse. It feels like it's almost ready to dash off somewhere. The handmade paper flower and cinnamon stick one took some fiddling with the background because there was too much open space behind it.

If you are stuck inside for, I encourage you to photograph things around your house. Small ornaments, toys, or knickknacks make great practice for macro or close up photography.
